A tenant vacated my property in June, this year but he apparently told the local authority that he had left the property in April. The LA are demanding council tax from me for the period April-June. The tenant has been seen in the property between April-June by my builder and the neighbours. He communicated with me during this period by sms messages since I am hard of hearing. The Local Authority dismiss/ignore all my evidence and insist I pay the demanded council tax. They have offered no evidence to support the tenant's claim that he left in April. Other interesting thing is that the council sent the tax demand 2 days AFTER the tenant left my property in June. LA is threatening to take me to court. The tenant did not pay any rent during the period April-June (8 weeks) claiming he was too ill to work so I cannot produce evidence of rent. Please advise
