Dear NRLA,
I am in the process of finding new tenants. I am aware of the new ruling against discriminating against people who are on Universal / Housing benefits. I have been assessing all prospective tenants and I am aware that I can ask for a guarantor, however I have a mortgage to pay on my property and therefore concerned about the time- scale and reliability of payments for rent and being out of pocket. It also seems quite a complicated system that as a landlord I do not think I have time to manage. Please advise since I am unsure of how to proceed.
