Two tenants in residential property on a standard joint & several AST contract.

Tenancy started 24th Feb 2021, the 6 months fixed term has ended, so it is now periodic, monthly.

One tenant has requested via email to move out 7th May. This is more than the minimum 1 month notice period, but is it allowed for the tenancy to end on a date other than the end of the rent period (for this tenancy that is 23rd day of each month)?

I want to accommodate the tenant's wish, if this is permitted.

I have advised both tenants that one tenant ending the tenancy means that the tenancy ends for both of them.

Second tenant has not yet confirmed if they want to stay on solo, or if they will a find new co-tenant.. but either way would mean a new tenancy agreement.

At this stage, I just need to know if I can confirm 7th May tenancy end (with pro-rata final rent payment from 24th April to 7th May).

Obviously need to manage this correctly. Appreciate your help!
