Significant improvements to new and any refurbished electrical wiring is proposed.

For some this may require a new consumer unit (even though a new metal consumer unit may only recently have been installed should that product choice not have allowed for future need for more space.

AFFD devices potentially moving from only recommended to improve fire safety to must be installed to improve fire safety is very likely a worthwhile upgrade. Should the change in this regulation be confirmed the needed AFDD devices may occupy one or two slots in a consumer unit possibly requiring space not allowed for in any recent upgrade. The cost of each AFDD device may be in the region of about £100 to £200 depending on manufacturer and specification.

Further the electrician will require passive fire protection
