If we are all expected to follow DHS in the PRS as the renters reform bill states. How are we going to be able to fit a new updated bathroom or refurbish a kitchen if there are no grounds possible for possession to do these major works to bring it up to DHS standards? As the LL can only gain possession if we plan to sell or move in only. The bill states most tenants rent the same place for about 4 years on average so that could be 1 year for a professional in a city flat or 8 years for a young family. Meanwhile there is no way for us to do these very important works. We need the NRLA to lobby for possession grounds to adhere to this bills legislation i.e DHS, EPC rating works, minimising category 1 hazards etc.
