Hi all
For historical reasons, my husband's name is on the mortgage and deeds for our family home, and the BTL property is in my name, both the mortgage and the deeds.
We are currently looking to move house (to be mortgage free!!).
As the BTL is just in my name, does that mean that I do or do not need to pay CGT? Are we allowed as individuals to own one property each or is the fact that we are married mean that we can only have one property free of CGT?
The reason that I ask is that we planned to buy our next property in joint names, but if our current arrangement is better, we can put the new property in my husband's name only!
