I have a row of 10, built circa 1900 terraced houses which are in need of the pebbledash renewing. These are solid-wall (no cavity) properties, and thus I am considering as to the application of external insulation in place of pebbledash to improve both insulation (EPC and as general maintenance). The properties are a mixture of C and D on the EPC grades, with no other 'improvements' likely to increase these grades.

I was surprise to read online suggestions to attach the insulation boards on top of the remaining pebbledash rather than remove it back to bare brick. I fully expected to have to clean back to bare brick for best effect and long-life?

Have any other members experience of application, and recommendations?
