Dealing with a cannabis factory

We have suffered a cannabis factory in one of our properties. I'll post separately with a more detailed note for others to be alerted. This post concerns what to do next and is looking for members' experiences of what happens after the police depart.
The property was raided a couple of days ago. Two people arrested and all plants removed. There were four upstairs rooms converted to a professional set-up.
The police advise that they will not take away the equipment - they only remove the plants. We are left to remove the equipment. We should not sell it.
What have other landlords done in this circumstance. Anecdotally, I hear that in some cases the gang will be watching the property and will return within two weeks to remove "their" equipment (probably during the night). I am guessing they will not be pleased if I pull it all out; put it in a skip and send it to the tip.
Based on the fact that there are other posts on here about cannabis factories I'd very much welcome comments on how these "after-effects" were dealt with
