We have a tenancy in which the partnership has broken down. The male was forcibly moved out of the property and the female stayed in the property until the end of the tenancy. The rent was in arrears and the male said he would only pay half of the arrears but is now saying he will only pay for arrears whilst he was in the property. He left the property mid term of the agreement. The female is trying to pay her share of the arrears off.

She has now moved out of the property but there is still a lot of his belongings in the property which he wants back.

We want him to clear the property but we also want his share of the arrears.

Are we correct in our understanding that he signed a 6 month tenancy so he is liable for the rent to the end of the 6 months whether he was in the property or not. We didn't receive any notice that he was moving out.

Any advice would be gratefully received.
