Blackpool council have some selective license arears for which I have duly paid my license fees. Recently they sent out a survey regarding selective licenses for yet another area. The survey was wholey leading and would not stand up as any piece of research. It asked tenants about landlords and appeared to assume that we are all uncaring unfeeling rogues, who are at the route of and responsible for all evils in the town.
I consider myself a good landlord, in the past I have paid the license fee but having seen no benefits in town from five years of licensing, I dont want to pay out thousands of pounds for nothing. Has anyone fought their councils attempt to introduce selective licensing or even the cost of it?
I think that it is a money making and job creation scheme and no-one that I have spoken to realises any benefit. I promise you that if it worked, I would shut up and pay a reasonable fee but £690 per property on rents/ LHA across 1,2,3 and 4 beds is £520pcm on average.
