How to rent checklist and deposit on old tenancy

Purchased a flat from receivers, the old landlord went into liquidation. The tenancy is dated in 2013 and no new tenancies since. Do I have to stand by the deposit as stated in the tenancy with the previous landlord)although the old landlord went into Receivership and also will I need to give the tenant the How To Rent Guide before I can serve any notice to vacate?
