Deposits on separating couples

I have rented out an apartment to a couple, who both signed the tenancy agreement, and the deposit was also under both names, the couple are now separating, and one tenant is staying with the other moving out. The tenant moving out has asked for the deposit back as she says, she paid for it?? The Tenant staying says this is not true and she paid??
