Gas Safety Certificates for a new tenancy

I had a gas safety check completed in March 2020 and the current tenant has just moved out.
I have been advised that I now need to have the gas safety completed again before a new tenant can move in.
Is this correct or does the existing certificate remain valid until March 2021?
