A group of students rented my property under a joint and severally liable tenancy. The tenancy has ended but one of the students still has unpaid rent and has not kept up with a payment plan. There are three other students and one of these has a guarantor. I want to claim against all four students and guarantor in the hope that the other three and guarantor will pressurise the debtor to pay up or will have to pay themselves. Can I make a claim against all of them? Money claim online says you can have a maximum of two defendants. Do I have to pick just two? Or can I make three claims for the same debt with two, two and one defendants in the respective claims? I want to use money claim online but don't know what to do in this case.
