My existing tenant requested a friend shared the tenancy. I have a Managing agent as it is an obligation under the terms of my mortgage. I was told I would have to meet the costs of referencing and drawing up the tenancy agreement of £258 inc VAT @ 20%. I would rather do that than lose a good Tenant. Just been informed the "friend" has withdrawn the application but the agent has completed the referencing so the fee has been incurred. Not a good start to the New Year! Thanks to the Government. How do I avoid this next time?
