Tenant Moving rooms, what do i do about their deposit?

I have a tenant in one of our HMO properties who would like to move rooms. I am just wondering what I will need to do with his deposit? Do I need to end his deposit protection, return his deposit and then take a new deposit for the new room? Or do I end the deposit protection, keep the deposit for his current room and re protect for a different room?
