Loan interest implication for Child Maintenance

My child maintenance payment has just been reassessed using "gross income". Of this, more than 25% was loan interest, giving an artificially high figure for gross income (before the tax credit was applied) and consequently a significantly higher child maintenance. Anyone else encountered this?
