Proving furniture is fire safe

I understand that The Furniture & Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations were progressively introduced after November 1988 and all domestic furniture made since March 1990 should be fit for use in let accommodation. My experience is that large items always carry a permanent fire safety label, but small items often do not.

For example I have bought several office chairs in the last few years from Argos. They have very little furnishing on them. They had a temporary cardboard fire safety tab loosely attached to them, but nothing permanent. Needless to say, the temporary labels didn%E2%80%99t last long in use by student tenants.

Is there a way I can demonstrate to local authority inspectors that furniture without a permanent fire safety label is safe?
