Due to the new government guidelines on pets we have been asked by a tenant if they can now have a dog as this cannot now be refused as before. Can you confirm our rights please for tenants already in situ? we kept the rent low providing there were no pets and my landlord feels pressured into this . She has new carpets throughout and now feels she cannot refuse . Should the dog damage or soil the carpets the deposit would not cover a fraction of the cost of re carpeting
