I have a number of properties where as part of the Electrical Safety Checks we have replaced the consumer unit. In this case you get an EIC , noticeable certificate for the works which covers 5 years. The Electricians are saying this covers the EICR requirements and a separate certificate is not required. The new consumer unit counts as a new installation. From what I read, an EICR is not required for a new build or rewire. Do I need both certificates ? Or are the Electricians correct ??
