Hi. I wonder if you can help me?

My elderly cousin passed away in Aug 2020 and I am the Administrator of his Estate.
He was a tenant and the Council have JUST (12 months on!) asked for a large repayment of Housing Benefit.

I did notify the Council officially of his death last September. I heard nothing from them until this week. As a year has passed, I have paid out all debts and distributed the remaining monies. There is no money left in the Estate.

The Council say there had been an ongoing Appeal hence the delay in contacting me. Surely as Administrator they should have informed me of this before now?

Also shouldn't I have been involved in that Appeal on behalf of my Cousin? It seems "un-British" to not have a right to reply.

Thank you for any help you can give.
