I have an ongoing AST through an agent, the AST states 3 months notice. I have spoken to the agent today as I have decided to sell the property however the agent claims that during Covid I have to give 6 months notice. He claimed it was difficult to find accommodation and I felt strongly that he was more interested in the tenants well being than his role as my representative. Please advise whether there has been a change to rules that dictate 6 months notice is needed on an AST with 3 months notice stated.
