This presentation introduces the Research Observatory team and outlines how research is used within the NRLA.

The presentation outlines the Landlord Confidence Index: what insight that index offers and how the information is collected and analysed.

The Quarter 2 survey focused on three key issues:

Firstly legislation and regulation and how landlords were responding to the challenges of local licensing, the Tenant Fees Act and the need for electrical certification. 

Secondly, there was a specific focus on members commonly referred to as "student landlords".  The survey looked at the unique challenges and uncertainties they were facing and how their business strategies were having to evolve in response to covid-19.

Finally the survey looked at how landlords viewed the government's support for the Private Rented Sector during covid. It finds a clear trend in support since the crisis broke in March.
