The Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, Ed Miliband MP, announced the Government’s plan to raise minimum energy efficiency standards (MEES), requiring tenancies to meet these by 2030. The NRLA is campaigning for support and incentives for landlords to upgrade their properties. As the discussion around energy efficiency and MEES continues, landlords are increasingly under pressure to prepare their properties to meet these new standards. Rising costs make navigating the available support more important than ever.

We understand it can be difficult to stay informed about current grants, access funding, and navigate the application process. To help, we have created a quick guide of the grants that you can apply for to improve the energy efficiency of your properties.

Below, you can find a list of available grants in England and Wales. We also recommend that you check with your local authority for any additional funding opportunities specific to your area.  

Autumn Budget 2025 update

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) and Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) grants are due to end in December 2026. Current activity is focused on completing projects that are already underway.
