I took back some properties belonging to my late father which where been managed be a letting agent.

The agent offered to keep the tenant deposit in there own system at no cost to me, at no time have they given me written advice on term or how the deposit thing works . ( should they of?)

I have had a tenant move out and a couple of issues have come to light from damage. I was away at time she moved out so unable to check flat and she left keys with someone, but my other question is, how should she of been informed of damage? And I spoke to agent holding the deposit saying I had a couple of issues and it was past 2 weeks from her moving out and without me been able to of checked property they gave her the deposit back without my approval are they in the right? And if not what can I do about it?

Many thanks
