months notice given by tenant

My tenant of 3 years has decided to leave and has given one months notice. However they want to move out before the 1 months notice finishes and have asked if they can pay the last months rent for just the period until they leave and not the full months notice. The difference would be £225 or 6 days. Is this acceptable? any help would be appreciated.
