What is the current notice period
Possession - Section 8 and Section 21

I manage a periodic tenancy and the Landlord has just notified me that he wants to take the property back in or before June next year. I believe that it is currently a 6 month notice period. Should I serve a section 21 in December or should I do it sooner?
