Tenants brought a kitten

Good evening everyone

I think this question has been raised before the Covid but wanted to seek views during these uncertain times. I have new tenants from 1 August under the NRLA AST, which states no animals without prior permission. The AST is for a 2 year term and the tenants seem to be nice although they didn't give us a notice about the kitten. Also, not sure how much time they have for its toilet training. Obviously, I can't take larger deposit now and can't serve a notice especially in the current environment.

I would be very grateful for your views, opinions, advice. TIA!
