My tenants Rent arrears are not their fault in my opinion but I'm losing out

Hello all, I had my tenants Universal Credit (UC) paid directly to me 6 months to help them (Not for rent arrears but their personal problems) I then issued a form 4 for a rent increase a few months later to the tenant and they assured me they sent it in so after waiting a few months the tenant got on to UC who said she will have to pay the difference which is now 4 months arrears of the old to the new rent, In the meantime, I have filled in another request to UC last week explaining everything and have heard nothing so the arrears still rise and I have no contact for UC, I get on with all my tenants and help them out as much as possible but never the less the arrears increase and the tenant worries as do I
