We have a strange problem. Six months ago we received, along with payments of uc for a couple of our tenants, a large payment for someone who isn't our tenant. We called the uc landlords phone line and it was confirmed that they were aware that we had been paid in error and we put the money on one side waiting for it to be reclaimed, it hasn't been. We have now received two more payments which include payments not due to us. The landlords phone line gave us another number to call to sort it out. After 45 mins the call was answered by someone who said she didn't understand what I was going on about, didn't recognise our reference number and couldn't help. After some persuasion she took our phone number and said she would get her manager to phone back. 3 days later we are still waiting for the call. I've also emailed but no joy there either. All we want to do is return the money and get it sorted out so that the correct landlord is getting their money. We presume that the landlord due the payment from 6 months ago has been paid. We are holding £2200 of public money and can't work out how to return it! How many other people are in the same boat? Anyone got any more suggestions on how to correct Dwp's error without wasting too much more of our time.
