85 per cent of Berliners rent (suggesting that the wealth of the majority of Berliners are not that high). The rent has inceased significantly in the recent years after the housing sell offs in 2004 (or thereabout). Big policy failure of course.

Many now want the Berlin authority to buy the private properties back from the big landlords. It will cost a lot of money to do so.
