I am in the fortunate position of having a son who is an electrician who can carry out this work at minimal cost and without ripping me off by recommending unnecessary work. I have been renting property since 1989 and the only unsafe electrical issues I have ever had were tenants tampering with or modifying electrics and 2 cases of accidental damage. I wonder what statistics the government has used to justify this extra testing burden on landlords. We will be passing the costs onto our tenants by way of increased rent and making it clear that these additional costs are due to the actions of the conservative government.
