Contract renewal for less than 6 months

Hi, my 6 months AST is coming to an end. I need to renew the contract but as a shorter term, like 3 months. I was informed I can do this with a new contract but I am unsure which template to use from the resources menu as the templates seem to all be AST. I want to make sure it's a new contract.
