  1. years ago, we paid Rotherham BC over £600.00 for our Selective Licence. Our property was fully in compliance and is always kept up to date with all regulations etc. Plus we have happy and contented tenants.

Now, without any cost to the Council, (they have not even inspected the property again) they are demanding a further £453.00 Plus the £68.00 we have already paid in advance, to renew our licence for just a further 4 years!
This is in my opinion, nothing short of legalised robbery and surely there must be something we can do to avoid paying this?
I agree there should be penalties for landlords who don't comply with safety rules etc, but why make us honest and caring landlords pay for the non compliant ones?
