The Big Question – How are you preparing for the Renters' Rights Act?
The Renters' Rights Act represents the biggest shake-up to the private rented sector (PRS) in decades and we would like to know how you're getting ready as part of our Big Question feature for your members' magazine, Property.
The regular series explores a topical issue related to renting to find out more about your approach, opinions and experiences.
Maybe you have taken one of the courses delivered by our award-winning training academy, or conducted a property audit. Perhaps you have reviewed your processes when it comes to advertising or referencing? Or maybe you've made some key decisions about the future of your portfolio?
The new legislation will be phased in, with the first changes, affecting tenancies, coming in on 1st May next year. These will include the end of the fixed term AST and the abolition of section 21, the so-called ‘no fault’ eviction.
Others, including the introduction of a private rented sector (PRS) database and a landlord ombudsman will come later.
