Celebrating success: Full house for our annual International Women's Day event
The sun was shinining in Salford this week for our annual International Women's Day celebrations. Landlords, letting agents, investors and property professionals from across the industry gathered at the Lowry Hotel to celebrate successes and share their experiences of the industry in a safe and supportive environment. The event, held yesterday (5th March) follows previous sell-out events in London.
Speakers on the day included inspirational female landlords, developers and entrepreneurs and industry specialists. The NRLA team (pictured below, left) was also on hand to give our delegates the inside track on all our latest campaigns work, speaking on key issues including the Renters’ Rights Act, Making Tax Digital, court reform and the Government's plans for minimum EPC C. Hosted by our chief marketing offficer Carla Johnson (below right) guests, at the day-long event enjoyed afternoon tea and refreshments, with ample networking opportunites.
Expert speakers
Our expert guests shared valuable insights, offering something for everyone, whether a seasoned investor or new to buy-to-let. One of the most popular sessions: The Next Generation of Women in Property, featured property investor Anna Pearce of Property Empress, Kim Opszala, award-winning property developer and investor at KoMo Properties, Kristina Castellina, group director at Empress Hall and Chloe Farrelly, last year's property investor of the year. They shared their unique journeys into the world of buy-to-let, outlined the challenges they have faces and the freedoms a career in property has afforded them.
Other speakers at the event included Victoria Valentine of Total Property who discussed they ways women are directing the future of the PRS, with Leah Wilson of RentGuarantor exploring the challenges of balancing business, family and life. The afternoon was wrapped up with a session on leadership lessons from women in property, focussing on confidence, influence and stepping up, delivered by Allison Thompson, national lettings managing director at LRG.
Sponsored by NRLA partners Total Propery, LRG and RentGuarantor, the event also addressed ways in which the industry can support and elevate the women in property on an ongoing basis, with all the proceeds going to official International Women's Day charities.
Chief marketing officer Carla Johnson said the event was a huge success - with connections made and firm friendships forged.
"It was a delight to host the celebration, which is, without doubt, my favourite NRLA event of the year.
