Are you a landlord with homes in Durham? Then get in touch

Samantha Watkin 27 July 2026

Durham County Council is consulting on its selective licensing scheme and wants to hear about your experiences.

From speaking to you in the past, we know selective licencing has had a significant impact adding another layer of costs and impacting future investment decisions.

We want you to share your views on:

  • Communication and support from the council
  • The impact on your tenants and your business
  • Licence fees and associated costs
  • The application process
  • Whether selective licensing has achieved its intended aims
  • Property inspections and compliance requirements

Your feedback will be invaluable in building a clearer picture of how the scheme is affecting the private rented sector in Durham.

Please send your thoughts and experiences to [email protected]

The consultation into plans to renew the selective licensing scheme closes on 12th August.
