Landlord court fees rising
Court fees for landlords will increase with inflation next week – with charges for possession claims and bailiffs among those rising.
Charges for possession claims will increase from £404 to £415, with bailiff fees going up from £148 to £152.
It will also cost more if you want to appeal a decision that a local authority has made.
The fee increases for the courts and tribunals service are part of annual price rises linked to inflation.
Cash to fund improvements to courts service
Ministers say cash raised will be used to fund the improvements to the justice system pledged by the Government as part of the Renters’ Rights Act, which has promised end-to-end digitisation of the courts by spring next year.
In all 80 fees across the Residential Property Division of the Property Chamber of the First-tier Tribunal, will increase, including those for leasehold cases and most residential property cases.
Fees for tenants to challenge a proposed rent increase remain frozen at £47, with no charge for a hearing.
All the changes will be introduced next Monday (13th July), subject to parliamentary approval.
