New webinar programme: Getting ready for EPC reform

With major reforms to Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) and Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) on the horizon there is no better time to start thinking about how these changes will affect you and your properties, tenants, and investment plans. 

To help you understand these upcoming reforms, we are launching a new webinar series to explore the practical implications of the Government proposals to introduce a minimum EPC rating of C in rental properties by 2030. 

Under the proposals, you will have until 1st October 2029 to reach EPC C under the current system. These certificates will be valid from the date of issue for 10 years. 

Those of you who have not hit EPC C by then will need to have your properties assessed under a new model, known as the Home Energy Model (HEM), something you can read more about here. 

The first webinar in the series will focus on why understanding this 2029 timeline for works may be even more important than the widely discussed 2030 deadline.  

The session will explore what the proposed reforms could mean in practice, why early preparation matters, and the steps you can take now to stay compliant, avoid disruption and protect their investments.

During the session, our chief policy officer, Chris Norris, will be joined by Rachel Owens from the National Retrofit Hub to discuss the proposed timeline, practical guidance, and the wider direction of travel for energy-efficiency policy in the private rented sector. 

You will also have the opportunity to ask questions during a live Q&A. 

Following the first session, we will continue the series in autumn with three further webinars that you can add to your calendars:  

• 30 September: MEES and the Renters’ Rights Act: a compliance risk you can’t ignore. 

• 4th November: The new EPC system: what’s changing and why it matters. 

• 4th December: Upgrading to EPC C for under £10,000: what landlords need to know.  

Each webinar will feature expert guest speakers and will share practical insights to help you prepare for the future of energy-efficiency regulation.
