New Renters’ Rights Act webinar programme announced
Our new programme of free Renters’ Rights Act webinars has been announced – with four dates confirmed for January and February 2026.
The first phase of the new legislation will come into force on 1st May, bringing with it the biggest changes we have seen in renting in a generation and our fortnightly webinar programme will cover everything you need to know about the new rules and how to stay compliant.
Student lets
Student landlords will be some of the hardest hit by the new rules, particularly the loss of the fixed term, the introduction of a new student possession ground – for HMOs only and changes when it comes to taking rent in advance.
With this in mind, the first of our new year webinars, sponsored by NRLA recognised supplier RentGuarantor will focus on student tenancies – and what student landlords need to do now to get ready and ensure they are compliant.
Our head of policy, James Wood, and a RentGuarantor speaker will deliver the webinar, which will also include a live Q&A giving you the opportunity to ask the questions that matter to you.

Lets with pets
Questions about new rules on renting to tenants with pets is the topic of our second webinar, scheduled for 21st January.
Under the new rules you will have to consider all requests for pets and cannot unreasonably refuse them. But what does this actually mean in practice?
This webinar will help you find out more about the changes are ahead, how you need to manage requests for a pet and what you can do to ensure you minimise risks of damage. Again, there will be the chance to ask questions of our panel of experts after the presentation.

Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs)
With few specific provisions for houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) in the Act, we will be looking at ways you make sure your tenancies work effectively under the new rules.
The end of fixed terms, dealing with antisocial behaviour, and starting new tenancies, will all come under the microscope in the session, with a live Q&A following discussion by our expert panel.
