Sheffield City Council on the lookout for PRS homes
Sheffield City Council is looking for landlords to rent out their properties via its Private Rented Solutions (PRS) Scheme. By leasing your property through the PRS scheme, you can benefit from:
- Guaranteed rental income - the council guarantees you the rent for the fixed term of the tenancy and
- Access to the Damage Liability Scheme - which will see the council cover any damages caused by a tenant in your property
The scheme is free to join – and there is no cost for any of the services the council provides.
How does it work?
The council will match tenants on its waiting list to your property with a local authority representative organising and attending all property viewings and managing the contract.
It will also ensure the deposit is guaranteed and there will be free support for you - and the tenant - throughout the tenancy, via a dedicated account manager.
You as the landlord will retain full management of the property throughout and make the final decision on offering any tenancy.
Signing up does not mean you are committed to letting your property to one of the council’s tenants, meaning you can withdraw your property from the scheme if you find your own tenant first.
What type of homes does the council want?
It is looking for one, two or three-bedroom properties, especially in areas such as Arbourthorne, Heeley, Parsons Cross, Hillsborough, Sharrow, Handsworth and Chapeltown.
If you have a property in Sheffield and would like to explore whether it’s suitable for you, call the PRS team at the council on 0114 205 3112 or fill in the online form.
Further information about the terms and conditions of the scheme can be found on the council’s website.
