Course Objectives –
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
- Know how and when to set up a new tenancy and what the new rules mean for you
- Have a better understanding of managing student lets, including ways to reduce potential rent arrears and anti-social behaviour
- Better understand the new possession routes for student landlords, including new Grounds under Section 8 and what happens when a tenant serves their Notice To Quit
Background
Managing student tenancies can come with additional challenges that many regular tenancies don’t. From signing the tenancy months in advance to ensuring proper HMO compliance, student references and guarantors, landlords have lots to cover when setting up and managing student lets.
This course covers the new requirements under The Act, including how and when a tenancy can be setup, what options landlords have now they can no longer take rent in advance and ultimately how and when these tenancies can be ended in line with the legislation.
This training course qualifies for 3 continuous professional development (CPD) points which can help towards or maintain your accreditation with the NRLA. If you are interested in becoming an accredited landlord with the NRLA, CPD points are necessary to achieve that status.
NRLA Accreditation recognises landlords who have agreed to maintain professional standards in the management and maintenance of their rented property and deal fairly and professionally with their tenants. Accredited members demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of their responsibilities and obligations and strive to maintain, increase and improve their knowledge of the market through training and development. CPD points are awarded for all activities which improve those attributes and are a requisite of membership of the NRLA Accreditation Scheme.
