Hi forum, I recently moved into a rented apartment. Landlord and property seemed OK but the room rapidly deteriorated and had black mould appear on the walls. Of course I understand the importance of keeping airflow in the room and not drying clothes in the room etc.

The problem is with a leak somewhere up above or in the walls.

Recently the problem got a lot worse and there was water pissing down the walls and leaking from the ceiling.

Whenever this has happened my tenants in the past (yes it happens!!) I had contractors visit immediately and correct the problem in full, permanently.

The landlord isn't really interested in getting the problem sorted.

Where do I stand in terms of early contract termination? I can't live here as frankly its unhealthy. It stinks of damp mould.

Any advice on best way to proceed and options is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks,
Lewis
