Good kitchen planning
Good planning will help you get the most out of your kitchen. A well-planned kitchen makes cooking more efficient, enhances organisation, and even adds value to your home. Whether you’re refreshing an existing kitchen or starting from scratch, these key tips will help you design a kitchen that works for you.
The working triangle
You should be able to move quickly and easy around the cooking area, the sink, and the fridge. This is sometimes called ‘The Working Triangle’. Getting this right in your kitchen can make meal preparation smoother and faster and reduce the distance to key areas in the space.
Between 800mm and 1400mm of each point of the triangle will work best and also save you walking miles to make a cup of tea.
Maximising storage space
A cluttered kitchen can be frustrating, so incorporating ample storage is essential. Consider deep MAXIMERA drawers for pots and pans, a pull-out UTRUSTA larder to make your tall cabinet storage more accessible, HALLBAR waste storage under your sink and a perfect fitting cutlery tray, like our sustainable UPPDATERA bamboo range.
Our METOD kitchen range was created to give our customers the maximum useable space, the smaller plinth height and taller base cabinets gives us on average 27% more useable space than the leading kitchen brands.
The lack of service void is not a problem either. Our specialists and installers can advise on the multiple ways of working around this.
Worktop space
Sufficient worktop space ensures you have enough room for food preparation, cooking, and other kitchen tasks without feeling cramped. It can also contribute to a clean and uncluttered kitchen design, improving the overall look and feel of the space.
Consider how much room you allow either side of the hob. Too close too a wall or larder unit will not leave enough room for handles and may also result in unwanted splashes from your spaghetti Bolognese.
Make sure to leave at least 60cm between your hob and sink as well.
A UTRUSTA pull-out worksurface can help with smaller kitchens when unloading groceries or chopping veggies.
We plan lots of small kitchens, and when worktop space is a premium, our HULTARP range can be another way to free up precious workspace while keeping your favourite utensils close at hand.
There’s lots to consider when planning your Dream Kitchen and our kitchens specialists can take you through every step of the planning process.
