Your licensing update for March

In our licensing blog this month, we round up all the latest licensing consultations and how to respond to them, as well as sharing full details of all the new schemes coming into force.

Active consultations

Active consultations:

East Staffordshire Council - Selective Licensing

The council is consulting on plans to expand its existing selective licensing scheme to include a further 16 streets in the borough.

The proposed licence fee is £700 per property, with discounts available for early applications, accredited landlords and multiple properties.

Bolton Council - Additional Licensing  

The council is currently consulting on plans to introduce a borough-wide additional licensing scheme. 

The proposed fee is £1,211 per licence, with the consultation closing on 19th April.

Salford City Council - Additional Licensing  

The council is currently consulting on plans to renew its borough-wide additional licensing scheme. The proposed licence fee starts at £1,329.14, with discounts available for accredited landlords and early applications.

The consultation closes on 15th April, with further information available on the council’s website by emailing [email protected]  or by calling 0161 793 3344.

Scheme’s coming into force

London Borough of Hackney - Selective and Additional Licensing

The council has confirmed that a borough-wide additional licensing scheme and a selective licensing scheme covering 17 wards will come into force on 1st May.

The licence fee is £925 for selective licensing and £1,400 for additional licensing. Further information about the scheme can be found on the council’s website.

North East Lincolnshire Council - Selective Licensing

The council has confirmed that a selective licensing scheme in the East Marsh area of Grimsby will come into force on 8th April. The fee is £1,000 per licence, with a discount available for being a member of its accreditation scheme.

London Borough of Sutton- Additional Licensing

The council has confirmed a borough-wide additional licensing scheme will come into force on 22nd March and end on 22nd March 2030. The licence fee is £285 per let.

London Borough of Havering- Selective and Additional Licensing

The council has confirmed that a borough-wide additional licensing scheme and a multi-ward selective licensing scheme will come into force on 18th March.

The licence fee for additional licensing is £1,400 and £950 for selective licensing. There are discounts available for accreditation, having a property with EPC rating C and above.

Great Yarmouth Borough Council - Selective Licensing  

The council has confirmed a multi-ward selective licensing scheme will come into force on 1st April, to end on 31st March 2031. The scheme will apply to Nelson, Central and Northgate and Southtown and Cobholm wards, as well as certain streets in Yarmouth North ward.

These include the West side of North Denes Road, Walpole Road, Churchill Road, Arundel Road, Garfield Road, the East side of Harley Road, the South side of Hamilton Road and the North side of Salisbury Road
