The last 12 month have been challenging for student landlords, with the introduction of the Renters’ Rights Act turning the student sector on its head.
The loss of the fixed term in particular has disproportionately impacted student landlords, not least those with smaller one or two-bedroom properties, who don’t have access to the new student possession ground, Ground 4a.
We are hosting a webinar for those of you who operate in the sector, or anyone thinking of moving into student lettings.
Entitled ‘Student lettings in 2026: Opportunities, challenges and the Renters' Rights Act’ the session, next Tuesday, September 29, will focus on what you need to do to survive and thrive in the student market – with demand for student homes still strong across the UK.
In the webinar, which will run from 11am-12pm, industry expert Steve Barnes, associate director of Total Landlord Insurance and Hamilton Fraser Insurance, will explore where demand is strongest and what students are looking for in a rental property.
He will also outline how the new legislation affects student lets, and the practical steps you can take to maximise occupancy and remain compliant.
Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards and the Renters’ Rights Act: a compliance risk you can’t ignore
The day after our student webinar we will host the next in our series of energy efficiency webinars.
Running from 11am -12pm the event, on Wednesday, will examine how EPC compliance demands interact with tenancy law and possession rights under the Renters’ Rights Act.
The session, which is for members and associates only, will help you understand the practical implications of non-compliance and what steps you should take to ensure you are meeting your obligations while protecting your rights.
