2. Property Abandonment & Death Of A Tenant with Ibrahim Balta, Senior Litigation Solictor, Broxbourne Borough Council

What is the procedure if a tenant abandons the property? In the tragic scenario of a tenant passing away, how would you go about gaining possession?  What is best practice for dealing with the family, bank transactions and outstanding or overpaid rent?  Ibrahim will gives us a full briefing with an opportunity for querstions.

3. Discussion: How Do You Feel About Being A Landlord?  Facilitated by Richard Blanco, NRLA Representative

28% of landlords have told NRLA researchers that they plan to sell in the next 12 months - but 8% are still planning to buy.  The growth of regulation, negative press and attitudes from politicians, high lending costs and a punitive taxation regime are some of the driving factors.  Those that can adapt their business models may see the sell off as an opportunity to expand.  How are you feeling about being a landlord?  Are you one of the landlords who bought in the 1990s who is cashing in and retiring?  Maybe you are focussing on short lets or HMOs. The 2010s was the decade of capital growth in the South East - do you think we will see capital growth in the next decade?  Richard will lead the discussion and we want to hear what you think.
