Event description
North Somerset Council is holding an information evening on Wednesday 24th April 2024 at the Town Hall, Weston-super-Mare, from 5.30pm.
With significant changes expected in the private rented sector in coming months the council is keen to listen to the views of local landlords and offer support to navigate the changing landscape.
As well as the council’s Lettings and Private Rented Housing teams, the evening will be attended by the National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA) - Ilona Bull (NRLA South West Regional Representative).
The Renters (Reform) Bill is set to bring about fundamental changes to the private rental sector, such as abolition of section 21 ‘no fault’ evictions, introducing a new Private Rented Sector Ombudsman, creating a Privately Rented Property Portal and giving tenants the right to request a pet in the property.
A representative from NRLA will be speaking on the proposed changes and fielding questions from attendees. NRLA is the UK's largest membership organisation for private residential landlords in England and Wales, supporting and representing over 100,000 members.
The Lettings Team offers discounted membership to NRLA for landlords as part of its free lettings service. Other benefits include:
• Documentation to ensure legal compliance at the start of the tenancy.
• Support throughout the tenancy term
• Free health & safety checks
• Matching tenants according to landlord’s criteria, and your final choice of tenant
• Financial incentives for providing affordable, good quality homes
• Referrals for grants and loans to help with energy efficiency
