NRLA Webinar | Breathing Space Debt Moratoriums
From 4 May 2021, tenants in unsustainable debt will be able to apply for a ‘breathing space’. This legislation allows people to enter into a temporary debt moratorium while they work with a financial advisor to find a debt solution such as a repayment plan.
During the debt moratorium, creditors cannot seek to recover the debt and must pause any enforcement activity relating to it, such as possession hearings or bailiff appointments.
Join our panellists, Helen Handzel (StepChange Debt Charity), John Blackwood (Scottish Association of Landlords), and John Stewart (NRLA) for a discussion on what breathing space means for your business, why it is being implemented, and how the similar Scottish scheme has operated since it began.
