Tenancy Deposits

Previously I used a Lettings agent to manage our property rental. Our tenant moved out 16th July and unfortunatley left the property in an unacceptable state above fair wear and tear and we have sought to get some of the deposit back from the deposit scheme paid into the lettings agent. Sadly, the agent keep telling me that they are awaiting quotes and to hear a response from the tenant. As you can imagine, I am most frustrated as having spent such repair costs to get the house ready for our next tenant - would have thought that this would have been sorted by now being around 10 weeks later.
I have tried and tried to no avail to get them to give me an answer but told I'd be informed soon as possible. I have even written an email of complaint to their complaints department a week ago and had no response.
Is there a higher place I can take this, some ombudsman body or is there a maximum time period I must wait before I take it any further.
Hoping someone can advise.
Regards
Chris
